How did you meet and what was your proposal story?
How we met
“We actually met online. Both of us were getting tired of not ‘finding the one,’ and after only a few dates it became a whirlwind romance. When we met, I had a 6-year-old Corgi named Bentley and Jarrod had just adopted a German Short Hair pointer puppy named Ruby. We quickly became a blended family with our dogs. We experienced and survived puppyhood early in our relationship, which only brought us closer together as well as tested our patience! The rest is history.”
Proposal story
“We were at home one evening cleaning the house to get ready for Jarrod’s parents to visit us for the weekend when my Corgi, Bentley, came into the room I was cleaning with a note pinned to his collar.
“The note read: ‘Mom, I know I don’t show it very often, but I really love my big little sister and Dad. I love when dad gives me belly rubs and plays fetch with me. I like how my little sister picks up my bad habits and takes after me sometimes. So, Mom, Dad has something he wants to ask you. But I want to ask you something as well, will you be my sister’s forever mom?’
“Then when I was done reading the note, Jarrod was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring. And of course, I said yes!”
What was the inspiration for the look and feel of your wedding?
“We wanted a vintage/timeless look to our wedding. We also wanted lots of neutral colors and greens throughout the wedding. Our wedding location was so beautiful and had tons of windows, so we wanted to bring the outside into the ceremony and reception space.”
What was the significance of your wedding location?
“We both fell in love with the place during our very first tour. Neither of us is very religious at the moment, but I had always loved the idea of getting married in a small chapel in the woods. Steeplechase had the exact feeling we were looking for. We loved all the space for our guests to walk around on the grounds.”
What was your favorite moment in your ceremony and reception?
“Standing up in front of our all of our family and friends on the alter saying our vows was our favorite part. The whole ceremony felt very intimate and personal. Jarrod’s dad was actually our officiant and he did an amazing job of talking about our love. It meant so much to us to have someone who knew us well perform the ceremony. Also, instead of traditional readings, we had our best man and maid of honor read poems we found that were meaningful to our relationship.”
Would you change anything if you could do it over again? If so, what?
“Honestly, nothing! The whole day was absolutely perfect, I would do everything the exact same way again in a heartbeat. The day went by so quickly, so the only thing I would have done is to slow down even more and enjoy all of the little moments throughout the day.”
What advice do you have for other couples planning their weddings?
“Choose wedding vendors that you really enjoy as people. Everyone who was part of creating our wedding was absolutely amazing, and so we put our trust in the professionals and the end results were breathtaking. If you find wedding industry people who are passionate about their jobs, they will go above and beyond to create the perfect wedding for you.”
What did you do for your honeymoon?
“We are going to go on our honeymoon in March 2020. We are going to go to Disney World!”
