How did you meet and what was your proposal story?
We met on match.com. Rodney proposed spontaneously on an August evening, during a walk around the lake. He didn’t even have a ring yet! We wanted to find the perfect ring together.
What was the significance of your wedding location?
Colorado has been a special place for us since we’ve met. We have vacationed there every year and hope to retire in the mountains one day. We find such peace and tranquility in the mountains, and our relationship is always refreshed after our trips.
What was your favorite moment in your ceremony and reception?
It would have to be a tie. We only had 30 of our closest family and friends at the ceremony, and being able to look out at their faces during the ceremony was so intimate and special to us. We had a storm
roll in right after the ceremony. It rained on and off throughout the reception. Then, as we were wrapping up the party, a beautiful double rainbow arched across the mountain tops right outside the venue. It was truly magical.
Would you change anything if you could do it over again? If so, what?
We honestly wouldn’t change a thing.
What advice do you have for other couples planning their weddings?
Don’t listen to all the noise. There are so many websites and photos and social media posts urging couples to have the ‘perfect’ wedding. There is no such thing. What are your top three most important details of a wedding? For us, it was mountains, family, and relaxation. We built a wedding based on those three things and it all fell into place. Don’t compete for the most ‘instagram-worthy’ wedding. Instead, remind yourself what is most important in your marriage and build your wedding from there. Don’tspend your engagement worrying, planning and being anxious about building one perfect day. Just breathe, and enjoy every moment. What makes you and your partner happy? You’re wedding is all about the love you two have for each other…it’s about no one else. Remember that!
What did you do for your honeymoon?
Surprise, surprise…we went back to Colorado! We went hiking, white water rafting, and enjoyed lots of wining and dining.
